Power Partners USA Power Tie Giveaway is expanding its necktie giveaway and training program in coordination with the MALE Leadership Academy at Jordan High School.

Many young males, 12-18 years old, do not own a necktie and have never been taught how to tie a necktie.  Jordan High School MALE Leadership Academy students are taking a lead role in the Power Partner USA Power Tie Giveaway. The students are packaging our donated neckties, have learned how to present to and mentor their fellow students about the importance of the knowing how to tie their own tie.

Presenting and Knot Tying Lessons for Other Classes at Jordan HS

MALE Leadership Academy students are currently conducting their own Power Tie Giveaways to different classes on the Jordan High School campus. These students are learning how to lead by serving others; all while teaching a functional skill to their peers.

Taking it on the Road

On March 20, 2020, The Male Leadership Academy students will be traveling and conducting the Power Tie Giveaway at three area Junior High Schools.  These schools are Lindbergh, Lindsey and Hughes Junior High Schools.

Our Goal of Reaching More Students is Making Progress

The Power Partners USA Power Tie Giveaway is impacting students we reach in a positive way. By showing the students how to conduct the Power Tie Giveaway, we are able to expand the number of ties we gift as well as teach each student the skill of knowing how to knot their own necktie. With that skill, each student now has the option to decide when and where they can wear a tie knowing they know how to knot the tie.  Along the way and with the guidance of their teacher, Bryan Carter, the students are learning leadership, organization,
presentation, and delegation skills. They are taking on the responsibility and challenge of walking into classes of 30+ students and accomplishing their mission of teaching fellow students the knot tying skill. As an example, in just one hour, these kids gifted donated ties and taught over 70 other Jordan high students how to knot the necktie.

They are impacting their fellow students in meaningful and tangible ways.

Our Power Tie Give Away on February 21, 2020 at Millikan High School was a fun time. We presented to Mr. Kyle Heinrich’s  Male Leadership Academy class of over 30 young men. We accomplished our goal of reaching out to young, male students and providing them with business mentorship and a useful, necessary skill they can use and apply as they move forward in life.

1.  Power Partner USA Professionals Present - Get the Message Across

Millikan students first heard from two business professionals, one LBUSD administrator and one Cal State Dominguez University student. The Mentors explained why and when they wear a necktie and how they view themselves and others in a necktie. Each mentor also explained their professional background.

2.  The Give Away and Training

Each student selected a tie donated by business professionals, doctors, teachers and who wanted their tie donation to go to a good cause. Brand new ties were also available to take. The class was divided into smaller groups and the mentors gave the students first hand instruction on how to tie the necktie.  Every student was attentive, eager to learn and they even helped each other out.

3.  The End Result - Discussion and Q and A

The students appreciated receiving a quality necktie and being taught how to knot the tie.  The question and Answer session shared the reasons students selected a particular tie and how they plan on using it.

Their their sense of accomplishment in learning how to knot their own necktie was apparent.

Students have a new skill and ready to use it. Each student walked out with a new appreciation for dressing professionally. They also now have a new necktie to add to their collection. They felt confident that they could tie their own necktie and were looking forward to representing themselves in the best light possible.

Power Partners USA delivered 40 more Power neckties to complete the 100 requested by Julie Eramo at the California Dept. of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

The ties will be handed out to inmates interviewing at the 1st Annual Employment Fair on April 11 at the RJ Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego.

Alan Armijo, president of Power Partners USA, requested that Julie inform the inmates that the “high-quality, silk neckties are true Power Ties donated by professionals who wore them with a suit. Professionals who graduated from top-notch universities and have been successful in various businesses.”

Heidi Nye, publisher of Alamitos Bay Neighbors, solicited and donated 20 ties specifically for this program. "These men have served their time," Heidi says. "Now it's their time to serve their communities by becoming gainfully employed. I hope these ties help facilitate that transition."

Heidi's monthly magazine serves the affluent Long Beach neighborhoods of Naples, The Peninsula, Spinnaker Bay, Spinnaker Coves, Bay Harbour, La Rochelle, and Marina Park. For more information, please contact Heidi at 562.704.9942.

In appreciation for Heidi’s efforts, Power Partners USA will be donating new ties for those students participating in early-April mock interviews through LONG BEACH CaLL, a high school mentoring program for which Heidi has volunteered.   CaLL’s Career & Internship Readiness Conference will be held Sat., April 6, 2019, 9am - 1pm at Browning High School (www.longbeachcall.org).
