Done Deal Spotlight: How the Right Referral Finally Solved the Problem

One of the most valuable things about trusted business relationships is knowing who to call when a situation becomes more complicated than expected.

That recently happened in Alan Armijo’s condominium building when another resident experienced water damage caused by a leaking toilet ring. The leak damaged not only the resident’s upstairs bathroom floor, but also created damage in the unit directly below on the first floor.

Originally, the resident had asked Alan for a referral. Alan provided two recommendations from within the Power Partners USA network, but the resident ultimately decided to go with a large nationally recognized restoration company instead.

Unfortunately, the experience did not go well.

The resident later explained that the work and communication became frustrating, and he felt pressured into flooring replacement options he did not even want. More importantly, the plumbing and reconstruction issues still needed to be properly evaluated to determine the actual source of the problem.

At that point, the resident came back to Alan and asked for another recommendation.

Once Alan learned more about the scope of work involved, he immediately thought of fellow Power Partners USA member Vince Attardo of Coastline Environmental Solutions / A1 Best Plumbing. Having known Vince through PPUSA and understanding both his plumbing and reconstruction experience, Alan felt confident referring someone he trusted to properly evaluate the situation and help guide the resident through the repairs.

Unlike many companies that only handle one side of a project, Vince had the ability to evaluate both the plumbing issue and the reconstruction work that followed. That combination turned out to be critical.

After Vince inspected the project, he quickly identified several concerns from the previous work.

As Vince explained:
“Primarily, they went in and did a hack job on his floors.”

He went on to explain:
“They floated the floor, put too much concrete down.”

The problems extended beyond the flooring itself.
“They cut the bottom of his door off, which had a custom paint job that matched three other doors…”

Vince’s team now had to carefully restore and refinish the damaged door so it would once again match the surrounding finishes in the home.

He further explained:
“…which we’re now gonna recustom refinish, mend the door back together.”

The original concern started with a leaking toilet, but Vince’s evaluation revealed something important:

“He also had a problem with his toilet, but it’s mostly not the toilet, it’s the floor.”

That distinction mattered because it changed the direction of the repairs and potentially prevented unnecessary plumbing costs.

As Vince noted: “So it should be able to save him some money on the plumbing as well.”

Once Vince completed the site evaluation, prepared the quote, and secured the project, the work moved quickly and efficiently.

Alan could hear Vince’s crew actively working in the unit. The repairs were completed in a timely manner, and the disruption to the resident’s home was finally coming to an end.

After the work was completed, Alan checked in with the resident to ask how everything turned out.

The response was immediate.

The resident was extremely happy with the work and relieved to finally have the situation resolved after dealing with the stress and inconvenience for such a long period of time.

He thanked Alan for the referral, and Alan told him he was glad everything worked out to his satisfaction.

Alan then asked him:
“Are you glad to finally have your space back after all this time?”

The resident smiled and answered:
“Yes.”

For Vince Attardo and Coastline Environmental Solutions / A1 Best Plumbing, this was not just another job. It was an opportunity to restore confidence for a client who simply wanted the problem solved the right way.

It also reinforced the value of trusted relationships within Power Partners USA. By referring fellow PPUSA member Vince Attardo, Alan was able to connect the resident with a contractor who communicated clearly, properly evaluated the situation, and completed the work to the resident’s satisfaction.

In the end, the resident was relieved to finally have his space back and grateful for the referral, while Vince’s work also reflected positively on the trust behind the Power Partners USA relationship that brought the project together.
