During our recent Power Partners USA meeting, Miguel Bravo of Comerica Bank shared major news about the future of Comerica and its exciting next chapter.

Comerica Bank has officially announced it will be acquired by Fifth Third Bank, a leading Midwest financial institution. The merger is expected to finalize by the end of the first quarter of 2026, making the combined organization the ninth-largest bank in the United States, with nearly $300 billion in assets.

According to Miguel, this acquisition represents a strategic move designed to enhance customer experience, expand digital capabilities, and increase community engagement funding. “It’s going to inject more money into community commitment,” he explained. “Next year we expect to see more local events, more outreach, and stronger support for business clients.”

One of the biggest advantages of the merger is that Fifth Third is expanding into the California market, with plans to add up to 90 new banking centers across the state within the next four years. Miguel assured members that Comerica’s existing staff and locations will remain in place throughout the transition.

“For our customers, it’s business as usual,” Miguel said. “Fifth Third shares the same values and client-first commitment that Comerica has always been known for. We expect a smooth transition, with rebranding likely completed by mid-2026.”

Until then, Comerica continues to offer competitive CD rates (currently a 60-day CD at 4.25%) and strong lending programs, including attractive home equity lines and consumer lending options for single-family and multi-unit properties.

The Power Partners USA community congratulates Miguel and his team on this major development and looks forward to seeing how the merger enhances opportunities for both business and community clients in Southern California.
